Like Evil Bobby, I drove over to Owatonna to see the Tim Walz--Gil Gutknecht debate sponsored by the Steele County chapter of the Minnesota Farmers Union. As my post from this morning indicates, I didn't think this would be a forum in which Walz would have an advantage over incumbent Republican Gil Gutknecht.
I was wrong.
From the moment in which Tim Walz stood to make his opening statement (Gil had sat at the table for his) until the moment Gutknecht delivered his rather curious closing remarks, Walz dominated the event. The crowd responded heartily to Walz but were shocked into laughter and protest at a few of Gutknecht's more--shall we speak Minnesotan and say interesting?--statements
After I download my photos and go through my notes, I'll post more on the debate. In the meantime, Evil Bobby has posted a You Tube of Walz's closing statement.
Go over and read EB's take on the debate: Walz Vs. Gutknecht: Sandblasting a Soup Cracker.
It was a delight to finally meet him and his lovely and witty bride. Video still stolen from this guy.
Da Wife was justfilming when I thought she was taking pictures. It was great! We have some Gil footage too though not the crazy stuff. The guy is a lunatic.
Cool to meet you too. Though Please, call me Bobby.
