"The opportunity to have secretary Johanns, House ag committee chair Peterson, and the other congressional leaders from Minnesota on a Farmfest forum at this stage of development of the next farm bill is outstanding," said Thiesse.
Forums will be held Aug. 7-9 in the Forum Tent on the show grounds located at on Gilfillan Estate. The show site is 7 miles southeast of Redwood Falls.
Thiesse said the Forum schedule has a heavy emphasis on national and state agriculture policy issues and will focus on strengthening the rural economy in Minnesota.
It will feature special forums on the 2007 farm bill, global warming and developing future land use policy.
All forums will provide ample time for audience questions, and follow-up discussion by panel members.

More on Farmfest in Farmfest promises mix of exhibitors, forums and demonstrations and Outdoor Sports Showcase is new for Farmfest.
We found another panel that looks pretty interesting but isn't getting as much attention. From the looks of this Farmfest schedule, Walz and Peterson will also be joining the new DNR New Ulm regional office director for a discussion of youth and outdoor recreation:
9:15 AM Youth and Outdoors... What's Missing and Why it Matters?
Mark Matuska, DNR Regional Director and Congressmen Collin Peterson & Tim Walz
Walz is a member of Pheasants Forever and a teacher, so this could show another side of the Congressman.
People from the Cities or Winona and LaCrescent may have to get up with the cows to make the 9:15 a.m. discussion. Come for the Farm Bill and Global Warming, stay for the Corn Feed.
