KEYC-TV on Walz's Waseca vets forum

Walzvetswaseca The local CBS/FOX affiliate in Mankato reports on Walz's vets forum in Waseca yesterday. Money quote:

Rep. Tim Walz says, "The first and foremost concern is what can we do to help you, not what can we do to make you get on that hamster wheel and spin for about six years as you're trying to get benefits. That's what we're trying to streamline. That's what we're trying to make better."

One of the chief complaints vets have about the system is the runaround. Walz and representatives from both parties are trying to fix that.

The station mistakenly reports that Walz will have another forum in New Ulm next week. Actually, it's tomorrow morning at the Legion in the Brown County city.

Later in the morning, Walz will met with Minnesota National Guard members and Iraq War vets at MSU to talk about their experience and needs upon returning home. The second meeting is sponsored by USAction.

And now we're off to the gym, then to a practice session where some of our young friends are practicing for a Halo tourney.
