Metaphor theft discovered in First District Republican primary contest

We knew the Davis campaign was cash strapped, but we didn't think his supporters would have to raid Dick Day's legendary wit for their musings.  Sad but true.

Earlier this month, we posted the full text of the Mankato Free Press article, Financial numbers don't help Davis:  Walz enjoys big edge in 1st District re-election campaign, in which Senator Day is quoted:

What the numbers really show is that the Republican is going to be outspent sub­stantially leading up to elec­tion day, Day said.

" Whoever it is," he said. "If it's me, it's going to be Day against Goliath."

Now we find Minnesota's most beloved conservative blogger, Davis supporter Paleocon Strikes, carrying on about Davis versus Goliath. It's a testimony to Day's flair for language, as much as Davis's inability to talk to delegates and raise money at the same time.

And as is the practice for Davis and his supporters, the author forgets to share the fact of the Republican primary, where Davis will be fighting Day.

Really, we eagerly await more purloined rhetoric for the four months or so until the Republican primary. Davis's camp should find ample opportunities to mine Day's utterances for something catchy. Too bad there isn't more money in the Davis bank account: Senator Day might ask for royalties.
