Tim Walz for Senate...what, again?

In 2007, political observers speculated about a Walz for U.S. Senate campaign in 2008, a notion soon put to rest. With some questioning the strength of Al Franken's bid against Norm Coleman, Mary LaHammer raised the possibility again in Franken's Potential Foes:

We asked the Walz campaign political director Richard Carlbom about the rumors. In an email he replied on the record:

Tim Walz is 100% focused on serving the people of Minnesota and winning his re-election campaign in the First District. He will not be a candidate for the U.S. Senate.

Update: Minnpost repeats LaHammer's speculation. Nobody in the big bad Cities has phone service or email?
