Strib: MN National Guard to receive benefits

Redbull As a statement from Congressman Walz's office noted yesterday, nearly National Guard members who had been deployed to Iraq will be getting  "Plus Up" educational benefits. Bottom line in the Strib's report:

The Minnesota congressional delegation, led by Democratic House members Keith Ellison and Tim Walz, urged Veterans Affairs Secretary James Peake to fix the problem. In a recent letter to the lawmakers, he agreed to provide the retroactive benefits to the soldiers who had sought them.

Great to know that they will be getting what they--and their families' sacrifices during a long deployment--earned.
