Friday digest: Walz favored in the hunt

Pheasantrooster KEYC-TV reports in Sportsmen for Walz Rally for their Candidate:

Congressman Tim Walz joins a group of sportsmen from around southern Minnesota to kick off "Sportsmen for Walz."

The congressman, an avid hunter, is releasing a new radio advertisement to tout his endorsement by the National Rifle Association.Sportsman for Walz includes hunters, anglers and others committed to habitat preservation and outdoor recreation.

Chris Cox, of the NRA, gives Walz an "A-rating" for his strong support of second amendment freedoms and hunting heritage.

A reminder of the good news for the Walz campaign in Democratic Money Lessens Republican Chances for Victory. We posted about the upgrade of the First from "Leans Democratic" to "Democrat Favored" last night in CQ Politics upgrades MN-O1 from Lean Democratic to Democrat Favored.

We're not sure how much influence this endorsement has, but Tim Walz is among the 2008 Election - Minnesota Congress Picks - Esquire.  Meanwhile, our friend McPherson Hall at Minnesota Central examines the intricacies of  Davis Endorsements. In a lighter post, the Locust of Evil looks at where Joe the Plumber gets his advice.

Thanks for the link to Esquire … I got froze out a couple of times trying to get in.

For most parts, I understand their logic (although not totally in agreement) but how could they endorse Kline saying he “has done good work to protect the jobs and families of soldiers sent overseas” … did they look at his votes on the GI Bill, PTSD funding, etc ? Not to mention his opposition to funding for renewable energy and SCHIP.

But nice to see that they examined the Third so closely … all that said, somehow I agree that getting the endorsement from Esquire isn't going to move any voters … much less sell any magazines.
