While we were out shooting, a couple of media advisories about veteran forums set for next week came in, one in Rochester that also includes a medals ceremony and one in Austin. We'd spliced the two release together below:
Congressman Tim Walz today announced that he will host a medals ceremony and veterans forum next Wednesday, March 26 at the American Legion in Rochester. At the beginning of the event, Congressman Walz will present long overdue medals to Christopher Lee, who served in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. When discharged, the United States Navy failed to provide Lee with the medals he earned and it took months of intervention from Congressman Walz before the U.S. Navy acknowledged its mistake.
Following the medals ceremony, Walz will review veterans legislation passed by the Congress in 2007 and will discuss veterans initiatives he plans to push for in 2008.
During his first year in Congress, Walz has been a leader on veterans issues, fighting for the largest increase in funding for the Veterans Administration in the 77 year history of the VA, and working to ease the transition between active duty and veterans' status.
