Yesterday, I posted about the GOP yearnings to get lucky in MN-07. Roll Call reported that operatives are talking to a prospective candidate to challenge House Ag Chair Collin Peterson. Good luck with that. On the ground here in the Seventh, Peterson seems quite safe.
Via Jeff Rosenberg's excellent Michele Bachmann makes things difficult for reasonable* Republicans, I learn of a Politico report on another Minnesota worry on the part of Beltway conservatives. Rosenberg's Politico pull quote:
Like a surfer riding the heavy waves before a hurricane, Boehner, a conservative with a penchant for compromise, has spent the past few months trying to harness the anger of the GOP base without allowing his conference to veer too far to the right
Rosenberg hones in on national leadership's fretting about Bachmann, and makes the point that Boehner is way too late--Michele Bachmann is the face of the Republican party.
Doubt the MnPublius blogger? Look no further than A Very Special Dear John Letter From Andy Aplikowski To John Boehner – CC: Eric Cantor at Residual Forces, a conservative Sixth District blog.
Who says breaking up is hard to do?
Mr. Apilikowski asks:
Is there really something in the water there in DC that turns Republican men into spineless whimps [sic]
Will the NRCC's date in the Seventh be cut from the same cloth as Bachmann? We all know how things worked out for her BFF Brian Davis in the First last November. Perhaps it's some consolation for him to share the stage at her last Town Hall in St. Cloud last Saturday.
Bonus: Bachmann was the primetime network face of crazy talk in the opening sketch on SNL Thursday last night.
