St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman put together a great campaign team for his recent wildly successful bid for a second term in office, and like many Greater Minnesota progressives, I looked forward to seeing more of them in rural Minnesota had Coleman chosen to run for governor.
That was not to be, unfortunately, and so I was happy to see a friend from the St. Paul mayoral campaign find a job across the river. From a press release:
Mayor Rybak also announced that he is naming John Stiles to be his new communications director to coordinate media relations for his office while Hanson Willis serves as chief of staff. Stiles most recently served as campaign manager for Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman’s successful re-election campaign, and prior to that served as Communications Director for the Minnesota DFL Party and as principal aide to Ramsey County Commissioner Toni Carter.
Since that's not a campaign job, I guess that Minneapolis's gain will be Greater Minnesota's loss as Stiles attends to city business. Congratulations, John.

Glad you also see that John is outstanding.....I met him on the Howard Dean campaign and have seen him do great work since. We are happy to have him join the team and hope to see you again soon.

Hooray for John! I like how he's standing in front of something created by a genuine Norwegian bachelor farmer!

Actually, Johnson was half Swedish, given that his father, Farmer Labor Party leader Magnus Johnson, emigrated from Sweden. His mother, Magnus's second wife, was a local Meeker County woman of "old stock" from New England.
