Yesterday evening, CD3 Independence Party Chair Diane Goldman posted a link to a Think Progress story on the Roy Srp for State Senate Facebook page.
Think Progress picked up on the work of Minnesota bloggers--including Bluestem--who had found dubious tweets by GOP-endorsed candidate Mike Parry and tweeted about them.
Though he had boasted to Republican endorsing convention delegates about not being worried about political correctness, Parry scrubbed the offensive or questionable tweets.
The posting of the Think Progress story on the IP candidate's page demonstrates the reach of the story--and that its consequences aren't just a Republican-Democratic spat.
Indeed, Mayor Srp probably hopes to carve out votes in Waseca from the other local, pro-life candidate. Given that Srp was reelected for a second term as mayor, while Parry went down decisively in trying to retain his city council term (this was his only contested election), reminding voters of the nature of the man they saw at four years of city council meetings probably isn't a bad strategy.
And a local story had become oddly nationalized. Not only has Memeorandum picked up the discussion such diverse venues as Alan Colmes Liberaland and Little Green Footballs.
And of course, this post wouldn't be complete without the PhotoShop cmmoent about the twitter scrubbing from the divine Tild, who took her inspiration from the late Billy Mays.
Update 1/7: To read about the twitter scrubbing story hitting the local news (and mike PArry's denials) check out Uproar: Parry twitter scrubbing story hits local papers in Waseca and Owatonna End update.

And of course these are the very people who just bristle when you call them racists, or when you show that their political philosophy is based on racism. (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C04E6DF1E30F935A35753C1A9639C8B63)

First, your posted link produced a blank page when I clicked on it. Perhaps you could try that again.
Second, it's unfortunate and, some might say, hypocritical, for you, Phoenix Woman, to paint all Republicans with the broad brush of "racism." But then again, that's to be expected of you, right? Both your "logic" and "facts" fail you as would mine if I believed that I should expect such narrow-minded and misguided remarks from you just because you're a democrat/independent/socialist/liberal/non-Republican/whatever.
It'd be nice if we all could put aside as many differences as possible and work together to overcome issues, many of which I'm sure we do all agree.
