Volunteers are out doorknocking and tweeting in Senate District 26, in the second day of the Engbrecht "Subzero Doorknock." Update: SD25 Senator Kevin Dahle is out knocking doors in "Faribo." Dahle was elected himself in a special election in January 2008 in the district to the north and west of SD26. [end update]
Yesterday's campaign activity by Engbrecht supporters has had an effect, and Danielson is working in a balmy 12 degrees above zero this afternoon in Faribault. Other volunteers are phonebanking the district today.
Supporters were out doorknocking for Engbrecht yesterday in Faribault, while the DFL endorsed candidate held public meet and greets in Blooming Prairie and Owatonna.
Owatonna DFL activist Trevor Jensen attended the lunchtime event at the kitchen and his spouse sent Bluestem the photos he snapped at the event. Jensen estimated that 20 attentive people attended.
After meeting Engbrecht, one guest later shared his thoughts in an email to the Steele County DFL, which sent an excerpt with permission:
“It is clear to me now that District 26 has two open mouths (behaving like their self declared 'squeaky wheels') and one open ear (behaving like an already well-oiled mind).”
According to Steele County Chair Vicki Jensen (Trevor's spouse), no media covered the event.
This coming week marks a busy schedule for Team Engbrecht, with three forums slated from Monday through Wednesday, as well as opportunities for volunteers. For doorknocking and phone banking opportunities, sign up at the Engbrecht web site or Facebook group.
