The web site notes local press Engbrecht is getting. In From politics to business, an exciting year is taking shape, the Faribault Daily News reports:
One of the biggest stories will play out this month as Faribault School Board member Jason Engbrecht tries to win longtime Sen. Dick Day’s seat in a special election Jan. 26.
Engbrecht is a Faribault resident and professor at St. Olaf College. He gained the endorsement last week from the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party.
He squares off against Waseca businessman Mike Parry, who received the GOP nod, and Roy Srp, an Independence party candidate.
As an academic-minded candidate and member of the Faribault School Board, Engbrecht can talk about education as an issue and did last week during a question and answer session in Owatonna. . .. . .Should Engbrecht win the Jan. 26 election, the Faribault School Board will have its work cut out to find a replacement. Engbrecht had been tapped to become chair of that board.
In Democrats meet Senate hopeful Jason Engbrecht, the Owatonna People's Press featured an in-depth look at Engbrecht's views. In Congrats to Senate candidates, the Waseca County News did just that. MPR looked at The science of balancing the budget in its interview, the headline playfully working Engbrecht job as a college physics prof into the story, KEYC-TV reported Candidates Selected To Run For Vacant Senate Seat.
Meanwhile, as Bluestem and the Minnesota Progressive Project note, the Mike Parry twitter scrubbing story has gone national, a fairly unusual event for a local state senate race.
