As we return to another thrilling episode of Emo Senator, Southern Minnesota's most watched telenovela, we learn that, during the night, the scriptwriter has received a query from a diligent young journalist toiling in the vineyards of a rural newspaper.
He writes to ask whether she knows anything about the Youtube channel, MN01RawFootage, which was certain a surprise find for her: obviously, an obsessed fan's channel, where only six videos are public on the space that was created in mid-March.
The scriptwriter suspects--but can not prove--that there are more, private or unlisted Youtubes on the channel. One of the six videos documents a very strange question about the United Nations; the citizen asking appears to be worried about an invasion of blue helmets. The Belle of Waseca County is clearly uncomfortable with the question, but deftly pivots to a talking point about how Obama has been good for the gun industry.
Parry moves away, leaving the questioner and another guy to talk about various rounds they've purchased.
The remaining clips seem to be shot just outside the Senate chamber or from the visitors' gallery on one day. In one clip, the fan--a young lady from the sounds of her voice--tries to get Parry to comment about Michael Brodkorb (the description for the video says that this isn't the first time she's tried).
The remainder is of the Emo Senator during the session. What's remarkable is how close attention he pays to the discussion of a bipartisan bill about window-washer safety brought to the floor by sponsor Ted Daley, followed by consideration of a health insurance bill.
Bluestem has posted a highlights reel at the top of this post.
Who is the source of the footage? A devoted fan? Footage from a Quist supporter? A forgetful DFL tracker forgetting to change the default settings for Youtube from public to unlisted or private? Stay tuned!
Update: More videos--from a meet and greet with a handful of people in New Ulm--have appeared on the channel. A source in the New Ulm area tells Bluestem that the videographer is the DFL "tracker girl."
