Earlier tonight, Bluestem posted Emo Senator: Shocker! Star Tribune takes Allen Quist to the CD1 Republican primary cotillion!
A kind fan of the Emo Senator passed along what we are told is an email the Parry for Congress campaign sent out in reaction to the newspaper's endorsement of Quist.
Here it is. SCREAMING EMO CAPS in the original:
I can't say I was surprised when I read the liberal Minneapolis Star Tribune endorsed Taxin' Tarryl Clark in the 8th District and Allen Quist in the 1st District!
In their endorsement, the Star Tribune Editorial Board wrote:
"We think those features [votes for tax increases] of Quist's record do him credit. They are evidence that his mind is not automatically closed to all arguments for higher taxes, and that he appreciates government's rightful role in securing public health and providing for public mobility."
As I've said throughout our campaign, I WILL NOT VOTE TO RAISE YOUR TAXES! Nor have I ever voted to raise taxes during the three years I've served in the State Senate.
When I met with the Star Tribune, their Editorial Board was SHOCKED when I told them I wouldn't support tax increases under any circumstances. Just as I stood strong for our shared conservative principles in Saint Paul, I will stand strong in Washington as your next Congressman!
With just over a week until the Primary, you need to decide which candidate gives Republicans the best opportunity to defeat Congressman Tim Walz.
Should we pick a candidate who has a history of voting for tax increases?
Should we pick a candidate who has a history of controversial statements which will be very damaging in a general election?
As Republicans, we must draw sharp contrasts with the out-of-touch Washington liberals (and the out-of-touch Editorial Boards)!
As the Republican candidate against Congressman Tim Walz, rest assured that I will aggressively challenge Walz on his abysmal voting record. The election will be a referendum on Walz's votes for Obamacare, Cap-and-Trade, the failed "stimulus" plan, and the many other bad votes Walz has taken.
Put simply, I am the electable conservative in the race for Congress. Working together, we WILL defeat Congressman Tim Walz in November.
I appreciate your support in the Republican Primary on August 14th.
