On Almanac tonight, Mary LaHammer presented a shortened version of "Every Governor Has His Nemesis:" from December 2011in which Mike Parry said at the time that he and Dayton had breakfast that they had a hatchet burying moment.
Parry brands himself as a guy who tells it like it is, who isn't politically correct, and that being a statesman means not avoiding the truth.
Judge for yourself whether Parry thought Dayton was scary in December 2011 when he spoke to Mary LaHammer after his first one-on-one with the Governor:
The historical context of ambitious legislators becoming governors' nemeses is fascinating. Perhaps Parry felt the need to carry in that tradition and unbury the hatchet --while mythologizing about the 2011 breakfast meeting.
Here's the New Ulm Journal footage of the controversial remark from Monday night and their aftermath at Farmfest the next day:
Interesting. Last night’s Lahammer story on the Austin TPT station was about flood relief sticker shock.
