Bluestem Prairie has been covered the organized citizen opposition to a huge farm hog farm in Fillmore County's karst country. As the Star Tribune reported in July:
Neighbors, including some farmers, contend the environmental impact potential is “enormous” because it would sit on an environmentally sensitive area known as the karst region of the state. They worry about manure seeping into drinking water and odor wafting throughout the area.
Last night, Land Stewardship Project tweeted:

KIMT TV 3's Brooke Mckivergan reports in Hog confinement concerns about the event.
60+ residents showed support for 1yr moratorium on massive factory farms in Newburg Twsp last night! "Our fences shouldn't have to go as high as the air blows or as low as the water flows," - Mark Spande, Farmer & LSP member. Vote set for 8/23. @KIMTNews3 https://t.co/YZRXryupHW— LandStewardshipProj (@LSPnow) August 3, 2018
Bluestem had reported about the meeting in All citizens are equal, but one thinks he's more equal: massive hog farm shareholder* seeks to prevent August 2 Newburgh Township meeting
We keep an eye out for more news.
*Landowner Al Hein objected to the use of the word "partner" to describe his involvement with the factory farm. We've changed the word to "shareholder" to more accurately describe the project's business structure. The shareholder structure for the proposed operation is described in news accounts here, here and here. We'll have more on the business entity as we complete our due diligence.
