House Agriculture Committee chair Collin Peterson has sought an open process for crafting the 2007 Farm Bill, which he also hopes to get done swiftly (a rarety).

Congressman Tim Walz announced today he will hold federal Farm Bill discussions with local farmers and community leaders in Worthington, Luverne and Pipestone on Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
"The Farm Bill is some of the most important legislation periodically considered by Congress," said Walz, a member of the House Agriculture Committee. "Minnesota has a unique opportunity to have a far-reaching impact during the upcoming Farm bill discussions in Congress. I am eager to gather input from farmers and local residents about what's working and what needs to be addressed in the 2007 Farm Bill."

Public testimony will be taken at each meeting for an hour and a half in two minute increments. Participants are encouraged to prepare written testimony in addition to their public statement.
