Yesterday, we lazily published a press advisory announcing the launch of Tim walz's mobile office tomorrow. This morning, the Winona Daily News reports U.S. Rep. Walz enlists mobile office to hear constituents’ concerns:
Rep. Tim Walz has a Valentine’s Day gift for his Winona constituents: a mobile office.
The traveling office will make its debut Wednesday at the Winona City Hall and will return regularly.
The idea is to have a place where constituents can come to offer suggestions and voice concerns about the freshman Democrat’s work on Capitol Hill. Traveling staff will also have updates available on Walz’s committee work and a number of current issues, including the Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern Railroad’s proposed expansion and the upcoming farm bill.
“It’s our way of being there,” said Meredith Salsbery, Walz’s communication director. “If they want to come in person and tell us what to think, good or bad, we’ll be there to listen.”
The office will also be open for constituents resolving federal issues through Walz’s office, including disputes over Social Security and veterans’ benefits. . . .
Although the First is only two (and on a couple of places, three) counties deep from south to north, it's about 300 miles long on the east-west axis. The mobile office is an interesting adaptation to this geographic challenge.
