As we had posted over the weekend, the Red Wind Republican Eagle had heard stories about Republican efforts to throw the DFL primary today, which (of course) were denied by Republican leadership. See our earlier post in Special election coverage: Is the GOP trying to throw the DFL primary?
Joe Bodell looks at the rumors in MNCR but doesn't include the Red Wing Republican Eagle's coverage:
DFL-endorsed high school teacher Linda Pfeilsticker faces her first ballot-box test today as she faces Wes Moreland in the DFL primary. With a growing crew of volunteers from the local DFL and her high school students, Pfeilsticker would be in a great position if Steve Drazkowski, the Republican-endorsed candidate for the same House seat, faced a primary himself. He doesn't, and rumors persist that there are organized Republican efforts to throw the DFL primary. If nothing else, these rumors should be a darned good reason for every single DFL voter in Zumbrota, Goodhue, Kenyon, and all of 28B to get out and support Pfeilsticker today. Her platform is solid, she's worked hard in a short period of time, and Moreland should not get special dispensation for being out of the country. As for the rumors...well, if it appears in certain places in the conservative "blogosphere" with one citation and a smart-sounding statement with nothing else backing it up...chances are good something's going on. This isn't conspiracy theory, this is empirical analysis, and there's a mountain of evidence backing it up.
