Over at Firedog Lake, Christy Hardin Smith praises Congressman Walz's response to anti-CHAMP Act ads that ran in the Mankato Free Press:
Babaloo did a piece for us on CHAMP targeting by conservative interest groups. And in light of the Southwick problems I just detailed, I thought highlighting a good response to GOP tactics would be helpful.
Smith quotes Walz's response. Her assessment:
Good pushback: clear, decisive, immediate, fact based and hits voters where it matters — in the gut and the heart. This takes the fight directly where it ought to go — to the profit motives of the a*****s* who bought these ads in the first place, and throws it right back at them. “I’ll see your ad buy, and raise you the truth about why you are so worried and an extra chip for your greediness.” Tactically, this is exactly what was needed, an immediate, hard-hitting, take the fight to their doorstep response. More like this please.
The head of Children's Defense Fund Minnesota also responded in a letter. We first covered the ads here.
