Congressman Walz is on the right in the umpire's stripes as he officiates in the 2007 Great Gobbler Gallop on Saturday in Worthington.
Walz was overseeing the handlers of Ruby Begonia, the losing turkey from Cuero, Texas. Paycheck, the turkey in the front, raced to the finish line in under a minute, according to the Globe. The Texan took 4 minutes and 37 second to cross the line; its handlers said it was just too cold. They have a point: note the spectator draped in a blanket.
A photo of Amy Klobuchar can also be seen in the Worthington Globe's slideshow of King Turkey Days events in Nobles County; Klobuchar also discussed the race (and pizza) later that day in Fairmont.
Presumably both Walz and Klobuchar have headed back to more turkey herding duties in Washington, where the House and Senate reconvene today.
