Tim Walz was Friday's keynote speaker at the Global Connections conference convened by South central College in Mankato. Streaming video of the speech, Predicting, Preventing, and Acknowledging Genocide in the 21st Century, is available online (we could only get the Quicktime version to work).
The conference included local scholars and experts from diverse backgrounds, including proprietors and chefs from local ethnic restaurants.
The purpose of this globally focused conference is to educate students and the public about the ways in which the world affects us daily, to examine the similarities and differences we hold with the diverse members of our community and people of the world, to appreciate the diverse makings of culture, and to share and make connections with others.
The conference is a two-day event for the South Central College community, other area colleges, high schools, and the general public.
