Congressman Walz is hosting another Iraq War Town Hall meeting tomorrow, this one in Albert Lea:
What: Forum on Iraq war with Rep. Tim Walz
When: 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27
Where: Albert Lea Elks Club, 1811 S. Broadway Ave.
The forums are unscripted and open to all. Here's how the Post-Bulletin described them:
. . . These aren't "town-hall style" gatherings filled with hand-picked Democrats with scripted, softball questions. To use his words, the forums are "open, frank discussions in front of your fellow citizens," and are meant to let people convey the "visceral, passionate and emotional feelings" they have about the war.
The meetings have lived up to their billing, with people from both sides of the political aisle sharing strong views. Some have said they want our troops brought home immediately, without regard for what would happen in Iraq, while others have told Walz that President Bush, as commander in chief, has the right to wage war as he sees fit. . . .
We're hearing from friends in Michele Bachmann's district that she's holding more "telemeetings," rather than facing her constituents. Some elected officials are autodialers; others, like Walz, are willing to talk face to face in public.
