A short editorial in today's Post Bulletin expresses hope that new ownership will prompt more harmonious negotiations about the DM & E rail expansion:
. . .All three members of our congressional delegation said they were optimistic that the purchase of the DM&E could be an opportunity to find a solution to the Mayo and Rochester's concerns about the coal train project. Both Klobuchar and Walz used the term "fresh start."It's an appropriate term. We can only hope that dealings between CP executives and Mayo and Rochester leaders are not nearly as acrimonious as they have been between the city and DM&E Chief Executive Officer Kevin Schieffer.
