Herd thinning?: PB's Political Party blog notes Tuesday's Demmer-Meyer press conference

Oh! what could the development be? The Political Party notes:

Is there a development in the offing in the congressional race for the 1st Congressional District? Maybe so. State Rep. Randy Demmer and Mark Meyer, GOP congressional candidates, are planning to hold a joint press conference at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Olmsted County Government Center. The Demmer camp was mum about what the annoucement might be about, but there's nothing that says we can't guess. Might it be that the field of four Republican candidates looking to run against DFL incumbent Tim Walz is about to be narrowed to three.

Since Meyer hasn't gotten much traction or campaign contributions, we're thinking that he'll be dropping out and throwing his support to Rep. Demmer's bid. The possibility makes sense in biographical terms: while Meyer is far more moderate ideologically than Demmer, they both got their political start on local school boards.
