Local earth scientce instructor John Tacinelli writes in AMT 'fix' is no solution:
Kudos to Tim Walz for voting against the so-called "fix for the Alternative Minimum Tax."
This phony solution would have fixed the AMT problem, but raised the deficit by $51 billion. If Mr. Walz's opponents in Congress really think the tax is unfair (which it is) then let's fix it in a revenue-neutral way. Either raise other taxes to pay for it or preferably cut spending.
While they are at it, let's do the same for the marriage penalty. Then we can make the tax code fairer but not pass the costs on to my daughters. They already have trillions in government debt to work off.
