We've been distracted by a flock of robins that descended into the yard and set off the cats' hunter instincts. Confined behind the office windows, they made those little feline noises cats produce when there's glass between themselves and prey. The robins may have a rough time tomorrow, when the weather service predicts more snow falling on Southern Minnesota.
The Dodge County Independent reports Dodge County Deputy Sheriff Jim Jensen wins DFL endorsement for Minnesota House Seat. The seat, 29A, is now held by Randy Demmer, who is vying for the Republican nomination in MN-01. Should Demmer gain the endorsement on Saturday, he will face a primary battle with Senator Dick Day.
The web page for the First District Republican Convention is located here. Norm Coleman is hosting a hospitality room the night before the gathering.
In today's Post Bulletin, an attorney notes In reality, frivolous lawsuits are mostly a myth in the U.S., a response to PB monthly columnist Phil Araoz. Araoz is also a MN-01 GOP activist and a financial supporter of Randy Demmer's congressional campaign; the Post Bulletin notes neither, though Congressman Walz was attacked by name in both columns.
Congressman Walz was asked about the Twins via Major League Ball at ESPN:
"You don't know how happy I am not to talk about the Iraq war. One of my staffers was at spring training in Florida and called to say, 'Francisco Liriano looks healthy, like he was in 2006.' I've always liked that eternal optimism of spring, especially in Minnesota." -- Tim Walz, D-Minn.
That was only a temporary reprieve, since Walz held a veterans forum today in Rochester where Christopher Lee, a Navy vet of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom received some medals from the conflict. Unlike respect for its veterans, the situation in Iraq might be pretty frustrating for a natural optimist like Walz.
