We just received news that Americans United for Change will be running a new radio spot in the First, urging listener to call Rep. Tim Walz and ask him to continue working for a strong economy, as he did when he helped pass economic stimulus legislation to provide immediate tax relief - $1,200 for most families – including rebates for seniors, veterans and families with children.
The radio spot will air for roughly 10 days starting on Friday, and will be accompanied by a calling campaign thats based on the same script.
AUFC press secretary Jeremey J. Funk writes:
"At a time when gas prices, college tuition and healthcare costs are skyrocketing, we wanted to assure Minnesota families that they have a strong voice working for them in Washington. After nearly eight years of Bush-Republican trickle-down economics, Americans are facing the prospect of a protracted recession. These ads are a recognition that it took Representatives like Tim Walz and a new majority in Congress to begin to end the era of exclusive tax breaks for the wealthy, who need them least, that never manage to trickle down to Minnesotans who need them most. Rep. Walz is helping finally get tax relief where it will do the most good to stimulate the economy: into the hands of Minnesota’s families, seniors and veterans."
We'll post the audio and script in a bit. The group describes its objectives here.
