Oh boy! Political Party reports that Smiling Tom Cole and Brian Davis will be holding a press conference in Rochester about energy issues:
Brian Davis will take up a similar theme on Thursday when he and Rep. Tom Cole, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, hold a press conference at the Olmsted County Republican headquarters.
It is to be hoped no paperwork is involved and that Chairman Cole's lips don't move when Davis talks. The public expects a certain amount of skill for these sorts of events.
After a long hiatus, Minnesota First is back, a blog that doesn't seem to fit into ready made categories. It's pro-surge and anti domestic spying, for example. The independent Apollo wasn't impressed by Brian Davis's column in the Worthington Globe. He notes in Brian Davis on Energy: A Primer in Political Pandering:
Brian Davis took to the pages of the Worthington Daily Globe last week to screech at "Congressman Walz and others in Congress." Much has been made of the Republican's scare tactics in the past about terrorism, but it now seems that Brian Davis is hoping to capitalize on the economic fears of his desired constituents, writing:
But instead of throwing around blame, let’s talk about real solutions. Otherwise, $6-a-gallon gasoline could be just around the corner.
This written, of course, right before he assigns blame to the congressional Democrats. Apparently, gas prices will no longer be a problem if Dr. Davis's solutions are quickly implemented. All of Dr. Davis's "solutions" are flawed, but for time and sanity's sake I am going to only tackle a few here...
Go read what he has to say.
Later today, we'll be looking closely about the silliest claim Davis makes in the piece, another whopper on the order of his mouthing the Chinese-drilling-with-the-Cubans urban legend that the House Republicans repeated until Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) made them quit. Of course, the origin of the latest one can be traced to a NRCC press release.
Dale at Corner House Comments writes in “We Have Accomplished That Goal”–GI Bill Signed Into Law:
. . .Congressman Tim Walz . . . has been consistent, vocal and hard working on veterans issues. In the statement he notes that over 20,000 men and women from Minnesota have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. The Congressman also offers up the assistance of his Rochester, MN office (507-206-0643) for veterans that are experiencing difficulties with their benefits.
The Olmsted County RPM's "incomplete bookkeeping" woes get taken up by the Locust of Evil and Blue Man in a Red District.
We have to run some errands this morning, but will return with what news the summer prairie winds bring our way. In the meantime, we recommend that Walz supporters can wipe that smile off Tom Cole's face by walking in an Independence Day parade with the Congressman and contributing to the Walz campaign.
We received a note this morning from the lovely, brilliant, talented and kind Leah Solo, the Walz campaign volunteer coordinator, noting that car pools are being put together for the parades. Details and contact info below the fold.
