Before we forget, last week McPherson Hall at Minnesota Central sent us this email about his betting pool on the MN-01 Republican primary. The prize for coming closest was being named Most Knowledgeable Political Junkie in MN-01. He writes:
It's official .... Ollie Ox of Bluestem Prairie is Most Knowledgeable Political Junkie in MN-01 .
The final tally is Davis 17,230 ( Ollie estimated 16-17,000) and Day was 8,491 (Ollie projected 9-12,000).
Actually, we're about MN-01, not in it, though we were born and raised in Southern Minnesota, where our families have lived since pioneer days. (The tiny Ott Cabin in Mankato's Sibley Park was built by ancestors on our dad's side). We're currently writing a nonfiction book about the area, more an appreciation of place than political science.
Minnesota Central is a must-read for the retired accountant's insightful analysis of candidate's policy statements. Also in the district netroots, recovering Republican Ron Amundson is actively posting again and worth a read.

Without getting into a Clintonian definition of “in” … or phraseology such as belonging to the “in-crowd” or “in the know”, let’s just accept that fact that you won fair and square. I suppose it truly is a reflection that sometimes we who live in the forest cannot see the trees and it takes an outsider to see what’s really going on.
Sally Jo: I'm not that much of an outsider having been born and raised in Southern Minnesota, where most of my extended family still lives--and it's not as if Hutchinson is Fairfax, Virginia, or Iowa.
