James Anderson at the Waseca County News has some choice words about campaign letters to the editor:
Within the span of half an hour I received, via e-mail, two letters to the editor. One was in support of Dick Day and the other was from Brian Davis himself (or at least the spam version). Both asked to be run before Tuesday's primary.
The problem is, both letter writers were completely unaware of our election season Opinion page policy, even though I thought I had made it clear. The last day that we published letters to the editor about Tuesday's primary was yesterday. Both letters missed the deadline.
So, tough luck to anyone looking to get a letter into Tuesday's paper in regards to Tuesday's primary. It's just not going to happen.
Here's an idea for campaign organizers, however: read the papers to which you're submitting. Our election season policy has been printed a number of times in recent weeks — including
here on August 4.
