Remember, Congressman Walz to stop in Owatonna tomorrow, the Owatonna People's Press reports:
On Monday, Congressmen Tim Walz will visit Costas Chocolates in Owatonna. This visit is unique in that Costas Chocolates owner, Theodore Boosalis is known as a prominent local Republican. This year he has shown his support for Democrat Tim Walz in his reelection bid for Congress.
Walz will make his appearance from 10:15-10:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at Costas Chocolates, 112 North Cedar Avenue. The public is welcome to attend.
Walz isn't the only one picking up support from Republicans. Perhaps the most important endorsement occurred today in the Presidential contest--and there's a Minnesota angle. KARE-11 reports in Powell Endorses Obama, Calls Bachmann's Comments "Nonsense":
He's John McCain's longtime friend, George W. Bush's Secretary of State, and now a supporter of Barack Obama for president: Colin Powell today says Obama has his endorsement, calling McCain's campaign divisive, and citing Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann as an example of Republican negativity.
"This business of, for example, a congressman from Minnesota who's going around saying, 'Let's examine all congressmen to see who's pro America or not pro America'. We have got to stop this kind of nonsense," said Powell after a television appearance Sunday morning.
How bad a job is it to be Bachmann's spokester these days? We'd rather have a job picking fly scat out of pepper.
In the netroots, Blueman notes in Coleman Runs Away From Bachman Comments:
Interesting, I bet he made his decision after they had a poll...typical Coleman courage.
Esme Murphy interviewed Norm this morning.
No word on whether Brian Davis, John Kline and Erik Paulsen endorse Bachmann's hateful anti-American commentary.
At DailyKos, Brownsox looks at House Race Ratings and Projections in a front page post. For Minnesota:
MN-01 Walz: Likely Democratic
Walz’s victory in 2006 was somewhat surprising, but he’s proven a fine fundraiser, has drawn third-rate opposition this year and stands poised to win reelection.
MN-03 Ramstad (OPEN): Toss Up
This race represents a battle of exceptionally strong candidates. State Rep. Erik Paulsen was one of the top GOP recruits in the country, but he faces a very compelling opponent in Democrat Ashwin Madia, an attorney and Iraq War veteran who ran a grassroots campaign to upset the favored candidate in the Democratic primary, and subsequently proved to be one of the best fundraisers at the House level in the entire country.
MN-06 Bachmann: Lean Republican
Everything changed in this race. We’ll post more on this as details come. Suffice it to say that Bachmann’s chances at reelection dropped dramatically the last two days.
And now another classic bit of country, dedicated to Michele Bachmann and the " third-rate" talent she endorsed in the First:
