The Mankato Free Press reports that two new, independent forums have sprung up to replace that which the paper operated, then closed after some participants engaged in flame wars:
In a testament to the lure of online fellowship, two separate forums have sprang up within days of the closing of The Free Press’ online meeting place.
In the three weeks or so since MankatoForum.com and MankatoChat.com started up — both on the dime of longtime users — dozens of old regulars have returned and signed on.
The Free Press, though, hasn’t stepped out of the forum arena completely, as Publisher Jim Santori said the newspaper is planning on returning the feature to its Web site at some point with different software.
Both of the new forums are similar, though at least a few users believe one skews left on the political spectrum and the other right. . . .
Go check out MankatoChat and Mankato Forum to see if you'd like to join in either or both.
