Both the City Pages (Minnesota happiness, by Congressional district) and the Star Tribune (The pursuit of happiness, through a Congressional lens) report on the Gallop/Healthways Inc well being survey. City Pages noted that MN-01 was the only district served by a DFLer in Congress to crack the top 100 happy congressional districts.
Unlike the Strib, City Pages linked to the study, which allows viewers to explore the various facets of the poll. We liked the map visualization version.
Howevver, we're not sure what meanig any of this has. People in the First, for instant, enjoyed the third highest emotional health of any congressional district in the country. Next in line for emotional health in the state's congressional district was Michele Bachmann's Sixth.
Perhaps it's related to all those real, face-to-face town hall meetings Congressman Walz has had with his constituents. Conversely, voters in the Sixth remain emotionally healthy because their congresswoman has yet to host an open public meeting where she'll meet constituents face-to-face. Just saying.
Photo: Tim Walz, smiling. Congressman Walz is able to maintain his good spirits by serving on three committees and the China Commission, and coming home to southern Minnesota pretty much every weekend and district work break.
