A press release from Walz's congressional office:
Congressman Walz Announces High School Art Competition Encourages All Students to Get Involved
(Mankato, MN) – Today, Representative Walz encouraged students from the First Congressional District of Minnesota to participate in the 28th Annual Congressional Arts Competition. Walz and other members of Congress will promote and celebrate the creative spirit of American high school students across the country by conducting the annual competition.
“As a high school teacher, it’s an honor to participate in a program that emphasizes the creativity of our youth,” Walz said. “This is a great opportunity for Southern Minnesota to showcase some of our native talent on a national stage, and I encourage all students to get involved.”
The winning submission from Minnesota’s First Congressional District will hang in the hallways of the United States Capitol for the next year. The second and third place submissions will hang in the Walz district offices in Rochester and Mankato.
Each high school in the First Congressional District is eligible to submit one piece per grade level. All submissions must be received in the Rochester or Mankato district office by Monday, May 4. Submissions will be accepted during regular business hours (8 am – 5 pm), Monday – Friday.
Entrants who would like their art returned to them after the competition must either pick it up at the Mankato office or include return postage.
