Oh, Randy Demmer.
Bluestem has looked at his rocky romance with the Mayo Clinic's desire for legislative relief on early enrollment for Medicaid in three posts so far.
Most recently, I chronicled Demmer's complicated relationship with Southeastern Minnesota's largest private employer in Heartbreak: Demmer didn't give his love to Mayo--and now they never call. Before that, there was Republican love for partisan catch phrase to cost Minnesota hospitals $100 million statewide and Post Bulletin: No personal love from Mayo Clinic about Medicaid early enrollment.
Now, this Youtube was sent to me that shows the swirl of emotions in Demmer's love-hate romance with what he calls "Obamacare" (don't you just love the cute pet names Republicans bestow on the objections of their obsessions?) :
Whatever should a tea-bag swilling conservative voter think in the First? Other candidates who sought the GOP endorsement in the First had not been so kind to the health care bill.
One suitor for their support had characterized the entire bill as "the most insidious, evil piece of legislation I have ever seen in my life". Another of those vying for the CD1 GOP endorsement had noted this about Demmer:
In a year when Tea Party and Independent voters are embracing clear distinctions between candidates, Rep. Demmer offers inconsistency...
Demmer's lukewarm opposition is a risky strategy. Two candidates are running to Demmer's right: Independence Party candidate Steve Wilson, a Tea Party speaker on the national debt and socially conservative Christian who was an endorsed Republican state senate candidate in 2006, and Lars Johnson, an independent conservative.
