Indeed, it was a war, as real as the war between the Dakota/Lakota and the Anishinabe (Ojibwa or Chippewa), who had displaced them from Wisconsin in the 18th century with the help of French firearms. The land on which we live and work has a very bloody history, one that needs acknowledging in full.
