It seems like Bluestem has been posting and posting and posting about how the Republican Party of Minnesota hasn't paid its recount copying bills to Minnesota counties. The first entry, KEYC-Mankato investigates: MNGOP owes So. MN counties for election data requests was posted back on December 3, 2010.
The last two BSP posts? April 14th's Failed burrito baron and party boss Tony Sutton stiffs counties, looks to MNGOP to stuff tortilla and April 17th's Mankato Free Press gives thumbs down to MNGOP for stiffing counties on recount expenses.
Last Friday, April 22, the Mankato Free Press reported in Counties awaiting Republican payments:
Some area counties continue to wait for money owed them by the Republican Party of Minnesota for document-copying costs following November’s gubernatorial election.
Martin County is still owed $350, Nicollet County is owed $1,300 and Sibley County is waiting on $1,623.. ..Republican Party Chairman Tony Sutton told The Free Press last week that the party is short on cash but is paying off counties as it gets money to do so. He said all will eventually be reimbursed.
At the party’s request Nicollet County copied 3,000 pages of documents, but not before a party attorney threatened the county with a lawsuit if the documents weren’t received by a set date....
The story's been picked up by the AP, Minnpost and blogs like MPP, which boldly notes that "GOPers are always demanding "fiscal responsibility" - of OTHERS."
What we may have here is a failure to communicate. When failed burrito baron Tony Sutton was re-elected as Republican Party of Minnesota chair, RNC chairman Reince Priebus praised Sutton:
Chairman Sutton knows there is more work to be done fighting for Minnesota jobs, fiscal responsibility . . .
Given his success with the implosion of Baja Sol's franchising operations and the tortoise pace of re-paying the counties, Bluestem couldn't agree more that Chairman Sutton has to do more work to fight for jobs and fiscal responsibility. I hope he knows what work needs to be done and what he should do.
