Last spring, Scott Newman made his way into the headlines and a bit of an ethical review when an aide sent an email saying he wouldn't meet with anyone who supported his opponent in 2010. Now he's holding Town Hall meetings throughout our district.
The Hutch Leader editorial board recommends that citizens attend, while noting the purpose of town halls:
We encourage people from all walks of life to attend these meetings — young and old, poor and wealthy, conservatives, liberals and folks with no political allegiances. Legislative town hall meetings are not political rallies. They are opportunities for people to share their concerns and hear others’ concerns.
One has already occurred in Litchfield. Via the Hutchinson Leader, here's the schedule of remaining meetings:
Tuesday, Oct. 18: Silver Lake, Sen. Newman and Rep. Shimanski, Molly's Café
Tuesday, Nov. 1: Annandale, Sen. Newman and Rep. Urdahl, Choir Room at the middle school
Thursday, Nov. 3: Winsted, Sen. Newman and Rep. Shimanski, City Hall council chamber
Tuesday, Nov. 15: Hutchinson, Sen. Newman and Rep. Shimanski, Ridgewater College, Room 141
Thursday, Nov. 17: Dassel, Sen. Newman and Rep. Urdahl, community room at the Historical Center
