Former First District Congressman Gil Gutknecht never was exactly one to discern character flaws in his running buddies. From John Wayne Gacy, his chicken shack boss in Gil's teen years and friendship with teen family killer David Brom to golf outings with page-molesting colleague Mark Foley, Gutknecht remained clueless, if not competely oblivious, to the character flaws of his companions.
He's getting a little better at it.
As BSP noted last spring, leaving office in 2007 did little for his ability to form first impressions, though it looks like he's learning to clean up after his companions. Gil hooked up with Bixby Energy, first as an investor and now a director. On December 14, the Department of Justice issued the press release, Bixby Energy Systems admits responsibility for securities fraud committed by its officers and agents.
According to the Pioneer Press, Gutknecht is one of two new company directors who is cooperating with federal authorities after ousting the fraudsters.
Bluestem hails Gutknecht's character development.
