Last year, Representative Steve Drazkowski (R-ALEC) ran as a foe of job-killing regulations. He told the Post Bulletin:
We must address the pandemic of uncertainty facing Minnesota businesses. Forcing government to live within its means and eliminating business-killing regulations will send positive signals to Minnesota’s job creators. Once confidence is restored, our state’s entrepreneurial spirit will be unleashed to create jobs that will restore vibrancy and economic prosperity.
Jobs! Prosperity! Get out of here government!
Confronted with news that tribal gaming facilities aren't getting much oversight, Draz is singing a different tune:
Drazkowski said he met with Gov. Mark Dayton on Monday to discuss his concerns, and the governor has promised to make changes to the agency.
“It’s easy to say you’re doing a wonderful job when no one bothers to check your work,” Drazkowski said. “We’re talking about regulation of what could be a $20 billion industry in this state.”
Apparently, there are job creators who don't need regulating and those who do. Bluestem wonders how Drazkowski sorts that one out.

It's simple in Draz's mind: Anything run by and profiting people who aren't white and/or Republican needs to be regulated, while anything run by and for the benefit of white Republicans and the rich Minnetonka Beach and Sunfish Lake donors that love them does not.
This is the same mentality that causes Republicans to have attacks of the vapors, which are dutifully transmitted by their media pals, at the DFL's french fry stand at the State Fair, even as Baja Sol franchises were seemingly handed out to Tony Sutton's and Bill Cooper's fellow Republicans and conservatives the way a proud papa hands out cigars after his first child is born.
