Perhaps it was the growing excitement over a coming performance on Sunday by Elton John that charged the air, but in Mankato this weekend, Saturday night was alright for fighting.
Especially on twitter: in fact, the Star Tribune based its entire Sunday convention coverage,Epic convention leaves Republicans without an answer on congressional race, on nothing other than tweets. That must of helped out with saving gas in honor of Earth Day.
One classic confrontation took place between eminent 2010 Republican gubernatorial tracker Abby Michaud and former Bachmann district director, current Quist wife and co-founder of the feminist Amazon Cooperative Bookstore, Julie.
The first throw down:
Abby Michaud @ajmichaud Parry has had a DFL tracker on him for 3 months. Trackers only follow relevant candidates. #CD1 #mngop
Julie Quist @truesomeQuist won't let the trackers in #easysolution @ajmichaud Trackers only follow relevant candidates. #CD1 #mngop
Michaud shot back, and Julie (Morse) Quist gave as good as she got:
Abby Michaud @ajmichaud @truesome Quist doesn't allow trackers? Interesting. What is he hiding? Trackers are a staple of modern campaigns. This is not 1994. #CD1
Julie Quist @truesome I'm sure Parry is good w/ his strategy. We're good w/ ours. @ajmichaud Trackers are a staple of modern campaigns.
Michaud was at the center of attention in the 2010 Minnepost story, Mark Dayton says GOP 'trackers' disrupt his campaign; GOP reply: 'Welcome to real world.'
Michaud's aggression worked out quite well for Michaud's employer; just ask Governor Emmer. Nor does Michaud's pivot change the fact that Parry's claim--repeated several times at the convention on Saturday night--of being the only CD1 Republican assigned a DFL tracker is simply false advertising.
