You are right that Parry isn't the only candidate who outpolled Emmer. More interestingly (for seeing what a spin-meister Golnick is), Parry's opponent also outpolled Dayton. SD 26 is a real hotbed of overachievers because there was no Independence Party candidate for Senate, unlike for Governor. If one concentrates on just the votes cast for either Republican or Democratic candidates in SD 26, then Golnick's claim turns into a falsehood. Parry received 54.33% of this two-party vote whereas Emmer received 54.62%.
