This morning, Bluestem looked at how national media was taking up Allen Quist's primary win Daily blog and the Ed Show: Ben Golnik warned So. MN's Republicans there'd be days like this.
The Daily Show relegated the win to its blog, while the Ed Show broadcast a segment.
Now The Young Turk's Network Cenk Uygur checks it out. It's entertaining, although there's a factual error when Uygur attributes pirmary opponent Mike Parry's infamous "Obama is a Power Hungry Arrogant Black Man” tweet to Quist (beginning around 4:41 in the Youtube).
The very arguable assertion is made that Parry was the frontrunner in the race. So it was in the Twin Cities media, though most of us hicks knew better for months--and Parry's going negative in July confirmed our candidate dowsing better than any forked witch-hazel branch.
Here's the clip:
The attribution of Parry's tweet to Quist comes shortly after the Star Tribune reported that primary winner Allen Quist had made Buzzfeed's "8 Craziest Candidates of 2012" list.
Will this be a trend as big city and national pundits and comedians take flyover on the First District's Congressional race? Will Quist serve as the "sin-eater" for all of Mike Parry's self-proclaimed "politically incorrect" errors before the Waseca pizzamaker rises again incorruptible?
Say what you want about those of us living in the charming little Egyptian towns of rural Minnesota. At least we can keep our crazy sorted out.
