The Koch Brothers funded Americans For Prosperity “Obama’s Failing Agenda Tour” bus was about as welcome in Owatonna on Saturday as Bradlee Dean's Street Team in a WalMart parking lot.
Both Cabela's and Target declined the honor of having the group's bus taking up spots in their parking lots. The Owatonna People's Press reports in Location for Americans for Prosperity rally in Owatonna in question:
The “Obama’s Failing Agenda Tour” rally will not {sic] take place in Owatonna on Saturday afternoon — just not where organizers originally thought it would be.
The tour, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity (AFP), was originally scheduled to stop at the Owatonna Target on Saturday at 3:45 p.m., according to a Thursday interview between the Owatonna People’s Press and John Cooney, director of the Minnesota Chapter of AFP. . . .
Jessica Deede, a spokesperson for Target’s corporate office, said the company contacted AFP on Friday to ask them to move the location of the rally.
“The rally is not specific to Target. It’s not a group that we are affiliated with and we really want our parking lot to be open and available to our guests, so we are asking that the group shift their rally to a different location,” Deede said. . . .
It was the second time the rally had changed locations. The tour was originally slated to stop at Cabela’s, but was moved because Cabela’s wanted to remain politically neutral.
Bluestem was unable to find any reference to any AFP activity in Owatonna on Saturday. KEYC-TV in Mankato ran a brief story about the Key City stop, and the organization's state field director tweeted a couple of photos from the stop in Rochester in the evening.
Failed congressional candidate and ALEC member Mike Parry spoke in Rochester to what looks to be a paltry gathering.
