This is going to be a very big problem that may make it impossible for large-scale commercial corn growing to continue, not just in Minnesota but in the rest of the Midwest. Various business interests and ALEC members may pump a lot of money into climate-change denialism, but the long drought -- a drought that may well herald the long-term desertification of America's bread baskets -- mocks their expensive head-in-the-sand attitude.

Will this come down to pigs versus people? Each hog takes equal or more water than a person. New hog buildings holding 2400+ head have been going up in this area all summer. Most seem to be hooked to rural water. At least at one new site, they bought the rights to hook in during 2012.
