Jake MacAulay, the former Sons of Liberty radio personality and board member known professionally as "Jake McMillian," has moved to Maryland with his family and works for the Institute on the Constitution, according to comments on an October 17 Facebook photo his wife, Heather MacAulay posted to her personal wall.
While the move to Maryland is new, the involvement with the Institute on the Constitution (ITC), run by 2004 Constitutional Party presidential candidate Michael Peroutka, is nothing new.
As "Jake McMillian MacAulay," and a "graduate of the Institute on the Constitution," MacAulay taught his first course beginning no later than July 26, 2011, according to the Internet Wayback Machine.
Here's a screenshot of Heather MacAulay's discussion of the move with a Facebook friend:
MacAulay: Extreme and Extremer?
Those who wish to applaud MacAulay for allegedly repenting his ways may wish to consider information in Rep. Stockman Joins White Nationalist-Tied Groups in Effort to Weaken Gun Laws, a recent post at :
Peroutka is a board member of the white supremacist and secessionist League of the South and denounces the Union’s victory in what he calls the “War Between the States.” He even pledged to use the Institute on the Constitution to aid the League of the South and advance the cause of imposing biblical law.
Pratt’s ties to White Nationalist and anti-Semitic groups are also well documented, and he joined Peroutka at a July 4 event hosted by an anti-Semitic rock band. Pratt also fears that the Obama administration may be building a black paramilitary force that will target straight, Christian white people.
Many gun rights advocates seek strict enforcement of existing laws related to crimes committed with firearms. However, Abramski v. United States tests whether buying a gun for another legal owner should be considered a straw purchase. Bluestem doesn't agree with the wording of the title of the Right Wing Watch article, but the research on Peroutka and Pratt's white nationalist ties are fair readings of their actions.
As Bluestem noted in an earlier post, Gun Owners of America leader Larry Pratt, a frequent Sons of Liberty guest, joined the SOL/YCR board in 2012, according to the ministry's 2012 990 filing with the IRS.
Heather and Jake MacAulay are also listed as members of the ministry's board in the document. It will be interesting to see the next public revelation of the board's membership.
The City Pages had reported that Bradlee Dean's ministry was no more--and Jake and all of the staff had moved on. However, it does appear that the Sons of Liberty/YCR retains two staff members: Elizabeth Ilse, who continues to post Sons Of Liberty material to her Facebook wall, and Chase Mathews Schomberg. Both employees' Facebook pages include study at the Institution on the Constitution in their "About" sections.
Dean's wife, Stephanie Cole Dean, now serves as his radio cohost. The Genesis Communications Network show is broadcast by a few stations, mostly in the border states, livestreamed, and podcast. Although Dean was well known to Minnesota's Bachmann watchers, he gained national notoriety when his prayer given while serving as chaplain for the Minnesota House was redacted by Republican leadership after he questioned the President's faith.
