Phil "Doctor No" Krinkie may be saying no the Freedom Club's debate next month, but the former Taxpayers League president didn't always say no to the West Metro One Percent Gentlemen's Club that John Gilmore so eloquently condemns to Potemkin Village status in his latest blog post.
According to Line #11B of Schedule A schedule for receipts for the Freedom Club's federal PAC report for the 2009 Year-end report (filed January 25, 2010), the Taxpayers League of Minnesota Liberty contributed $5000 to the political action committee.
It's recorded here on page10 of the 2009 Year-End report of the Taxpayers League of Minnesota Liberty Fund federal PAC. We include a screenshot at the top of this post.
According to the Taxpayers League of Minnesota Liberty Fund's 2009 990 IRS filing, Nicholas Truso was the President and Treasurer of the PAC, while Kent Kaiser served as Vice President.
According to a September 8, 2010 letter to the FEC, Krinkie became President of the fund effective that date. The 2010 document notes that the Taxpayers League is an affiliated committee (page 3), as did the February 2009 statement of organization.
Phil Krinkie became president of the Taxpayers League in February 2007, according to a contemporary report by Tom Scheck at Minnesota Public Radio.
Perhaps he had nothing at all to do with the Taxpayers League's affiliated federal PAC (and the federal PAC with the Taxpayers' League) but given the near-Catullusian quality of John Gilmore's invective toward the Freedom Club on Krinkie's behalf, the 2009 contribution from one federal PAC to another is a curious irony.
Any Freedom Club contributions in the CD6 race will come from the federal PAC.
