As the year closes its accounts, Bluestem thinks it's time to call the roll on the survivors of Bradlee Dean's You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International/Sons of Liberty Radio Ministry.
Readers may recall that this was a year of shakeups for the Annandale-based toxic metal ministry. In September, Bluestem was first to report about Bradlee Dean's entire You Can Run International Annandale headquarters listed online for rent.
Other media reported that the ministry had closed, but Bradlee Dean seems to be soldiering on without his sidekick Jake McMillian MacAulay, the YCR street teams and much of the support team. At least two employees remain, Chase Schomburg and Elizabeth Schomburg, nee Ilse. (Ilse had fled St. Cloud State University to be rescued by Bradlee Dean from booze, boys, jobs and studying; she and fellow SOLR employee Chase married earlier this year).
Where are they now?
Jake McMillian MacAulay continues to work at the Institute on the Constitution, which is run by white supremacist Michael Peroutka. He still looks back fondly though, posting old photos of himself with Famous Faces in an album created December 19 from the salad days of YCR. The photo of MacAulay and former governor Tim Pawlenty is drawn from this Facebook album.
There are other signs that the former sidekick remains on cordial terms with the SOLR team. MacAulay liked and shared Elizabeth Schomburg's status Self-described on Facebook as "A little bit of everything at Sons of Liberty Radio and Consultant at Isagenix®" Mrs. Schomburg drew her status from evangelist Ray Comport:
Well said: Think again about our national problems. We are astronomically in debt, plagued with floods, droughts, fires, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Cancer is killing millions. Mass shootings are commonplace. Our prisons are full to overflowing. Millions have lost their homes and are unemployed. Disease is in our soil and food. We are fighting wars we cannot win, have sleeper-cell terrorists, illegal aliens, bugs in our beds, bus [sic] in baby food, and wood-eating bus [sic] destroying our homes. Bees are disappearing. Wild animals attack people, and national TV has become one big advertisement for drug companies, revealing how sick this nation has become. The churches are filled with adulterers, pedophiles and hypocrites, and businesses are filled with corruption.
All these things are the result of a nation that has turned its back on God. We have lost His blessing. Calls for political change are nothing but a blunt axe. We need to stop as a nation, and sharpen the axe by turning to God--through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.
Holy cats! Who knew that apostasy brought on bedbugs and termites! Or wild animal attacks! As for the bees, Bluestem had been led to believe it was not lack of godliness, but rather the absence of habitat combined with mites, fungicides and neonicotinoids.
She's close to jumping the Westboro barrier there, though other posts suggest an interest in Alex Jones' style conspiracies that can be addressed not by prayer, but ingesting a multi-level marketing diet program. She shares links blaming gluten disorders on GMOs, claiming Chem-Trail Flu is "yet another reason why EVERYBODY needs to cleanse!" and picketing against spraying the sky with chemicals.
Her husband Chase also "works at Sons of Liberty Radio and Isagenix®." Here's her salesperson page.
Former Junkyard Prophet lead vocalist/bassist and Street Team Coordinator Massey Campos continues his career in heavy metal. He's a welder and fabricator at Al's Ornamental Ironwork, an honorable skilled trade. Once a YCR radio producer, his wife Cari Campos is now a stay-at-home mom of three.
As for Bradlee Dean, he's still on the air, youtube and Facebook at Sons of Liberty Radio, most recently yelling at Jesse Jackson in the Duck Dynasty uproar, although the toxic metal rocker doesn't seem to register what in particular upset Jackson. As Bluestem has never watched the Duck show, we didn't have much of a notion of what in the wide, wide world of sports was going on here. when we read the GQ piece, the passage about African-Americans in the pre-civil rights era to which Jackson objected made us recall an offensive-language-populated scene from Blazing Saddles,
On his eponymous Facebook page, Dean claims to have picked up 7,700 new likes in the last week, so perhaps a slimmed-down staff was merely a deft career move.
